your speed and watch for each other. back to you. >>> right now 47,000 pepco customers in maryland are still without power as a result of sunday's violent storms. and crews are working feverishly to get more customers back on-line. most of the outages are in montgomery county. kristin fisher is joining us with a progress report. gm, kristin. >> good morning, angie. i'm at the intersection of weller and good hill and you all just missed a bunch of power crews. they have been here all night long working to restore power in the neighborhood. great news for the people who live in this neighborhood. they say power should be back on momentarily. and this is happening throughout the dc area as more and more people get back on- line. now, right now pepco has roughly 400 crews in the field working to restore power in the area. about 300 of those are reinforcements from out of town. yesterday morning there was a caravan of power crews from as far away as ohio rolling out of pepco's storm staging area at montgomery county fairgrounds. they have been working throughout the night to restore service

keeping our eye on in bethesda, going southbound maryland 396. that road is currently closed at little falls parkway. >> the washington, d.c. region has just been ranked the best educated metropolitan area in the country. according to a new report released by the brookings institute. kristin fisher is crunching the numbers live for us. good morning. >> reporter: good morning, this study is based on 2008 census data from the top 100 metropolitan areas in the country. once again, what do you know? washington, d.c. is home to the smartest people in the entire country. not boston, not seattle, not san francisco, us. we'll break it down by the numbers. this is a list of the top 5 metropolitan areas what do you know, number one, washington, arlington, that entire dc metro area comes in at 47% of adults with bachelor degrees. so that means half of washingtonians have college degrees. numbers 2, 3, and 4, bridge port, connecticut, san jose and san francisco, clock in at 33, 34%. and you might think it would be higher up on the list. boston, cambridge, massachusetts, at 42%. i should point out

usual. on the capital beltway in maryland, things are filling out around the georgia avenue exit. overall not really many problems. 95 an the bw parkway, also smooth sailing and nice and green out of baltimore to 495. this is an eyesore. 66 eastbound early morning issues. jammed from 123 to the capital beltway. at least a 20 minute drive right now and this is partly due to lingering construction. finally a look at the travel times, 267 the toll road, eastbound seven minutes is what it is taking to get from 674 to the beltway. seven minutes on dc 295 to the 11th street bridge. traveling the outer loop from van doren to the wilson bridge is only taking you about seven. back to you. >>> in the living well segment, childhood cancer survivors may be at risk for heart disease later in life. researchers studied 600 kids treated with therapies that could potentially hurt the heart an they found out after 15 years 27% developed cardiac problems. >>> a new study found people who use the internet to help lose weight tend to be more success. they followed 1600 people. those that logged on to
